Masters in Non-Profit Management Scholarships and Grants
While earning a masters in non-profit management can undoubtedly help your career if you want to work in the non-profit sector, doing so could also break the bank, with most colleges costing thousands of dollars per semester. If you’re worried about the cost of education, but want to get an advanced degree in non-profit management, scholarships and grants are your best bet for free money for college. Luckily, there are a number of options available to students who need help paying for school:
The William E. Simon Fellowship for Noble Purpose
This award is given to a graduating undergrad student for “pursuit of a goal that will strengthen civil society.” While you don’t have to be a non-profit management student to be awarded this money, it does fit into the educational goals of many non-profit management students. The grant totals $40,000 in unrestricted funds, so if there’s a research project you want to pursue while getting your master’s degree, this could be a great source of money. The organization also gives away two smaller grants annually to students.
William Randolph Hearst Endowed Fellowship for Minority Students
Minority students with an interested in social causes and philanthropy may want to apply for this fellowship, which allows you to complete a summer internship that counts as college credit in many master’s degree programs. To qualify, you must demonstrate both academic achievement and financial need.
Financial Aid Directly Colleges
By far, the biggest source for financial aid for students in non-profit master’s degree programs is their own colleges and university. Most of the colleges that offer masters in non-profit management have both scholarships and grants available for their students, with scholarship available based on merit and grants given to students who demonstrate need. In both cases, you may have to maintain a certain GPA throughout your time in school, but the money doesn’t have to be repaid when you graduate, as is the case with student loans. The scholarships and grants available from colleges are among some of the highest amounts awarded, so this is perhaps one of the factors you want to consider when comparing graduate schools.
